3-Phase Power

Machinery circuits, supply upgrades and workshop power for commercial and rural premises

Three phase turns up in two places around here. Commercial premises running air conditioning, refrigeration or machinery, and rural blocks with workshops, pumps and larger equipment.

The usual questions are whether the premises already has three phase available, whether there is capacity left for what you want to add, and what it takes to run a circuit to the equipment. Those are worth answering before you buy the machine rather than after it arrives.

We install and repair three phase circuits, supply distribution to machinery, and can advise on whether your existing supply will carry what you are planning.

What we install

Machinery circuits

Correctly sized and protected supply for compressors, welders, lathes and plant.

Three phase outlets

Industrial sockets installed where the equipment actually sits.

Distribution boards

Three phase boards and sub-boards for workshops and commercial premises.

Supply assessment

Checking whether your existing supply has the capacity before you commit to new equipment.

Motor and pump circuits

Supply and protection for pumps, extraction and motorised plant.

Fault finding

Diagnosing phase loss, imbalance and tripping on three phase installations.

Common questions

How do we know if we have three phase?

Look at your switchboard. Three phase supply usually shows as three main fuses or a three pole main switch rather than a single one. If you are not sure, send me a photo of the board.

Can three phase be added if the property does not have it?

Sometimes, but it involves the network operator and is not always straightforward or cheap. We can tell you what is realistically involved before you go down that path.

Will my supply handle a new machine?

That is exactly what to check first. It depends on your existing capacity and what else runs at the same time. Far better to know before the equipment is delivered.

Do you do rural three phase?

Yes. Workshops, pumps and sheds on rural blocks are regular work, including the longer runs that come with them.
