Getting a shed properly wired is one of the most common jobs we do on the larger blocks around Mandurah, Pinjarra and the river suburbs. Most sheds start with a single light and one power point, and then get used as a workshop, a gym or somewhere to run a fridge and a welder. The wiring rarely keeps up.
The work itself is the sub-board, the circuits, the lighting and the power points inside the shed, plus making sure what feeds it is safe and correctly protected. Anything detached from the house needs its own RCD protection, and that is the thing older shed wiring most often lacks.
If a new cable needs to go in the ground, you or your builder arrange the trench and we do the electrical side, then test, certify and hand over the safety certificate. That keeps the cost sensible and means you are not paying an electrician to dig.

A properly rated board in the shed with its own RCD protection and clear circuit labelling, sized for what you actually run out there.
Supply to the shed
Cable sized correctly for the distance so voltage drop stays within standard. You arrange the trench, we do the cable, terminations and testing.
Lighting and power points
LED battens, work lighting and enough outlets to run tools without extension leads trailing across the floor.
Three phase supply
Where the property has it available, for welders, compressors, lathes and larger workshop plant.
Upgrading an existing shed
Adding circuits, lighting and outlets to a shed that already has power but is well short of what you now use it for.
Making old shed wiring safe
Unsafe joins, missing RCD protection and undersized cable are common. We assess what is there and put it right.
Common questions
How much does it cost to run power to a shed?
It depends on the distance from the board and what you want to run out there. A light and a couple of outlets in a shed close to the house is a modest job. A workshop forty metres away needing its own sub-board is a bigger one. We look at the run, the supply and what you plan to use, then quote the actual job. Trenching, if it is needed, is arranged separately by you.
Does a shed need its own RCD?
Yes. Anything detached from the house needs its own RCD protection, and for most sheds that means a small sub-board rather than just extending a circuit from the house. It is a requirement, and it is also the thing that protects you when you are working out there with power tools.
Can we run an extension lead out instead?
For a light and a phone charger on an occasional basis, people do. But it is not a solution for a shed you actually use. Extension leads across the ground are a trip and damage risk, they are not rated for permanent use, and they will not carry the load of workshop tools without overheating. It is also not compliant if you ever sell the property.
Do you cover rural blocks out past Pinjarra?
